South Africa Horseback Safaris owners and operators Steven & Lucy Rufus offer years of experience to provide the most exiting adventures in Africa for horse trail enthusiasts.

Steven has extensive knowledge of interaction with Big Five and Dangerous Game and is one of the very few fully qualified Horse Guides in Southern Africa . In addition he has lectured in equine sciences, competed in eventing at a top level in South Africa and is a registered farrier.  

Nine years ago he established Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris in Botswana , then on his return to South Africa discovered the beautiful Songimvelo Game Reserve which promises the same exciting riding with different challenges and amazing game viewing to his previous ride in Botswana .

The emphasis with South Africa Horseback Safaris is on the quality of our well schooled and incredibly fit horses. They will climb the highest mountain to afford you breath taking views as well as giving you amazing interaction with the game all from the best vantage point. in the saddle!

There are two different horse holidays you can join, Luxury Lodge based riding available throughout the year, or 7 Day Wilderness Safaris in Songimvelo Game Reserve, leaving at scheduled dates throughout the year.
